Our Story
Our company’s history began with father and son business partners Jerry and Tom Assessor, who purchased Schmid Embroidery in September 2008. Founded in 1982, Schmid has been a family and locally run business for over thirty years. The business has grown year over year, expanding to Williamsburg in 2010 with the purchase of Atlantic Embroidery & Design and adding a retail component in 2016 with the acquisition of Uniform Plus. In 2013 Tom’s wife, Beth, joined the team. She started out by helping in production, running the embroidery machines, and learning how to digitize embroidery files. As their children grew and became more independent, Beth was able to come on full-time and become more involved in sales and business operations.

We differentiate ourselves by offering a more consultative approach to promotional apparel and products. We ask about the message you want to communicate, who will be wearing the products, what type of event they will be used for, and more, to make sure we provide the products and apparel that will best fit for your branding goals.
SWAM Certified & IMG Licensed
We are SWAM certified and are licensed with IMG Collegiate Licensing and Affinity Greek Licensing. We have established relationships with William & Mary, University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Old Dominion University.
